This is perhaps the easiest fraud to spot within the realm of Runescape.

But, as with everything else in real life beauty is in simplicity. Perhaps that's why this scam worked so well. The player would constantly send out messages about the possibility of doubling their earnings until they drew the attention of an uninitiated novice.

Unaware players might trade an amount of money (for instance 5.000) and receive 10.000 from the doubler they claim to have. Then they make a trade of the 10.000 and receive 20.000. When the "doubler" earns trust from the "newbies" trust and trust, they give an amount that is significant, such as one million or more dollars of cheapest osrs gp. This is when the fraudster disappears or leaves the account, and you're left with lots of gold.
